When it gets too hot around here, one of the nicest things to do is to just… stay home…

A good start of a good day with a good book!

We all want goodness in our life so let’s work for it and allow it to work for us!

Reading takes that first step but once you start it will carry you away to an imaginary universe!

You get lost in time, putting together in your mind whatever you’re reading!

Your mind turns into a screenplay!!

You “design” the narrator’s voice inside as you go along in the story!

Your face turns serious, then a smile, then you’re amazed… what’s next?!

Maybe one day we should all turn our life into a book… it would certainly provide enough material for a big one, I’m sure!

But until then, I delight with other people’s writing skills!!

With the ability they have to turn words into action, into living stories!!

And I think it’s transversal to all “segments” of your life.

Do your bit, invest in what you believe and don’t easily give up.

However, if you keep chasing whatever doesn’t want to be near you… is it really worth chasing?

Each of us has their own vision and perception and so there’s no such a thing as an “objective reality”.

Each one of us has their own limits… the thing is what do we do once we reach them?

And it’s ok not knowing.

Sometimes you react, sometimes you just let it slide by. There’s no right or wrong.

So in doubt, be yourself.

Whoever appreciates you for who you are won’t allow you to slide by.

A year ago I went to Governors Island for DJ Tiesto…

What a crowd, what a crazy atmosphere!!

For me, it was the most free spirited festival I’ve seen and I was surprised by it! It’s definitely a party!

People were free, wearing whichever clothes they wanted to (or not… 😁), partying in anyway they wanted to!

And sometimes you do need a bit of partying in between the pressure of work, life and everything else!

It’s a real unplugging experience!

Plus, an absolutely fabulous sunset with a view to Lady Liberty!

Give me music, friends and a drink and I’m a happy girl!! 🎀🎊🎉🕶🙌🏼👏🏼🎉🎊🎼🎼

One of my most powerful memories of NYC was the WTC memorial…

In the loudest, most lively and vibrant city in the world, where you hear ambulances and police cars 24/7, this was the loudest silence I have ever heard.

You can only hear water streaming down the monument.

You look around and again you can’t help feeling overwhelmed for so many different reasons.

It’s bigger and stronger than everyone in there.

It’s impossible not to feel an indescribable amount of respect, sadness and “not understanding”.

I felt it and I’m just an outsider.

An outsider but a human being. And you’re not indifferent.

That monument is there for a reason.

It’s there for thousands of reasons.

The thousands of carved names are now a reminder of what used to be thousands of real Lives.

1 name = 1 Life.

Could be anyone of us.

Randomly any given day.

May God protect us all and may Humans protect each other.

One of the highlights of my NYC solo trip was definitely the TOP OF THE ROCK!

The view from the top of Rockefeller Center was simply astonishing…

All of Manhattan right there before my eyes!

I stayed there from 5:30pm onwards because a friend of mine had told I couldn’t miss the sunset. She just forgot to mention the sunset would be around 9:30, summer time 🙄

So I waited…. and waited… until finally the sun decided to set… and these pictures try to capture the beauty of it but it’s impossible.

It’s breath taking (much like Dubai, you need to stop and stare to fully grasp your surroundings)!

The photos can’t show the colors, can’t show the way buildings reflect the light as the day turns into night!

It was simply a privilege to see.

It was magical!

I might post a few more (or a lot more!) pictures of my trip because there were so many important and meaningful moments that I’d love to share!!

Plus when you’re by yourself you have too much time to think…

I thought: “what am I doing here by myself?”

“Why did I come alone if this is something I wanted to share so badly with someone?”

And ultimately I found my own answer…

I’ve done it because Life provided me with the opportunity to do it at that time. Not before, not after. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do it later on. So I took it. And I thank the people who incentivized me going alone. I thank them for giving me that chance.

Exactly one year ago I was in the middle of my trip to New York!

What an adventure!

I went solo on this one and I remember how terrified I was of traveling alone.

I felt it was something I had to do and I’ve done it.

At the end of the day, I felt safe and not lonely as there were so many tourists traveling on their own!

But what I remember the most was the feeling of overcoming a fear.

A feeling of independence, true freedom and empowerment which changed the way I saw myself.

I haven’t traveled by myself since then but I think I’d do it again.

Although I did love everything I learned, I’d love to go back in good company to share the few things I haven’t done on my own.

The city’s atmosphere is just amazingly insane!

You can see the history in the buildings, you’re taken to the movies you watched and “see” them happening there.

I would say I didn’t completely fall in love with traveling alone but I definitely fell in love with New York!

Regarding the lone traveling… I definitely think at some point everyone should do it, even if just for a week, somewhere they feel safe.

It’s a life lesson.

How beautiful is my home town?

Surrounded by sunshine, blue sky and the river blue waters.

A city built over hundreds of year’s of rich history and stories.

It’s always a bitter sweet feeling while being here.

It’s my home but in a way, it’s not home anymore.

For people who live abroad, something in you has changed and you’re excited to come home but when it’s time to go back, you feel like you’re going back home too!

Not everyone understands, as I guess one really needs to create a new life somewhere else other than your home country to be able to understand what it’s like to have “two homes”.

It’s your home but it’s as if you don’t fully belong anymore.

One has your heart, the other has your brain and effort to build the life you once envisioned for yourself.

One is the love of your life which you can’t really have.

The other is what’s been given to you and you feel lucky to have taken it.

Yes, it’s beautiful when you free yourself from other people’s expectations about who you should be.

Some will think you’re too sweet or too nice.

Others will think you’re too quiet.

Others will think you’re weird.

Others will think you have a temper.

People form their opinion on you based on a tiny interaction… based on a fraction of who you really are.

They’ll judge you by the way you talk (or don’t), the way you dress, the way you laugh….

They will judge you as per their own versions of truth and “standards”.

There’s no way you’re going to please everyone.

So… do yourself a favor and please yourself.

Be the person you want to be.

And be true to your own standards.

Free yourself from judgmental conclusions.

Don’t judge anyone, regardless if others judge you or not. Judgement comes often with ignorance.

Improve yourself.

Be the best version of you.

Focus on yourself.

Be confident enough to not live your life depending on other people’s opinions.

Respect them but don’t allow them to define you.

It’s a work in progress.

Don’t waste it and make it count.
