For those of us who live abroad we live the dual Life…
Home is now a 2 sided reality.
When you go on vacation, you go Home.
When you come back, you come back home. It’s the place you built and it’s your “right here, right now”.
But sometimes Home might just surprise you when it comes to “right here, right now”.
And then, Life needs to show you again just how much of a b**** she is when it comes to timing.
She can’t give you what you most desire.
She will only allow you a glimpse so you can regret something you don’t even know what it is.
And suddenly there it is.
You get stuck in a moment in which you remember… “ah! This is how a man should look at a woman… I had forgotten…”
the sweet, inviting, subtly challenging look in those eyes…. the decent attractive conversation… beauty and brains… of course, that tiny extra bit of Gin helps you dream and fantasize “Can I just surrender and make time stop?”
“Can I please not have to go back and check this out for a bit?”…
No, you can’t, says Life with her witty provocative attitude. When something you crave for is right in front of you, right here right now.
Right or wrong, it’s how you feel at that time… the dazzling, beautiful hopes and dreams are just there.
And you have to let them go.
You can’t explore.
There’s no “next time”.
This mix is enough to get you in the bubble of questioning yourself… again and again.
Am I doing the right thing?
Should I be here instead of there?
You start thinking of everything else… family and friends who need you but whom you didn’t know needed you.
You need to make an effort to recall what brought you here. You need to remember what fuels your dreamy future.
But are you in the right direction?
How do you know?
How can you possibly know?
These are silly thoughts carried away by the magic of friends, music and Gin…
But they are surely enough to ignite an endless amount of real questions… enough to open the feared Pandora’s Box…
